V/A – Es is zum Scheissn – Punk in Wien 1977-1988

ES IS ZUM SCHEISSN – Punk in Vienna 1977–1988 was a project cooked up by a pivotal figure of the austrian scene Thomas Reitmayer (Label Boss, Artist, Skateshop Owner, Filmmaker, you name it…) The film came out in 2019, but blink and you missed it — it vanished from public view faster than a punk with a court date. Why? A spicy cocktail of copyright drama, personal beefs, public yelling matches, and a cast of very extroverted personalities. Classic punk chaos. From the get-go, there were dreams of dropping a soundtrack to go with it. The film had its premiere in a cozy Viennese indie cinema in October 2019, but then — plot twist — Thomas Reitmayer passed away suddenly in May 2020 from a heart attack. Total shocker for the small austrian punk szene. Fast forward a few years (because nothing punk happens on time), and now, finally, the LP is hitting the shelves — and it’s bringing the film along for the ride on a bonus DVD! This resurrection is brought to you by the fine folks at Exil Records and Bachelor Records. The cover art was done by Robert Räudig (of CHUZPE fame), and the mastering was handled by Eric Brady from Windian Records — basically, it sounds amazing and looks like it could bite you. The film is getting a special screening on April 26, 2025, at Kino Wimpassing — and yes, that’s the same day the LP + DVD drops. To warm things up, there’s a panel at 7 PM featuring some of the film’s punk legends: Ilse E. Hoffmann (A-GEN53), Paul Poet, Robert Wolf (Chuzpe), Helmut Heiland (Extrem), and Ronnie “Rocket” Urini (Dirt Shit). Expect stories, noise, and probably a few good-natured insults.
